This week as we are getting ready for Spring Clean with Me, we’re prepping our supplies and cleaning our laundry rooms. Taking the time to do these things will set us up for success in the coming month. Today I’m going to share the steps I take to do a DEEP clean in the laundry room. Take the steps that work for you and clean your laundry room this week too. If you have the extra time, get caught up on any laundry you can this week too.
HOW TO CLEAN A LAUNDRY ROOM
Think top down ceiling to floor and left to right as you work through your room. Grab your supplies so you are ready for cleaning and can stay in the general vicinity and clean quickly. What supplies do you need? A vacuum cleaner, extendable duster, microfiber cleaning cloths, all-purpose cleaner.
- Start by cleaning your washing machine. If you don’t know how to do this, follow the steps in this post with a free printable guide.
- Remove anything from shelves or your washing machine/dryer and place outside the laundry room. Use a laundry basket to give your items a temporary home.
- Use an extendable brush or duster to dust vents, light fixtures, corners, and edges. Here’s a link to one that’s similar to what I am using – I LOVE IT! If you grab one, grab an extendable pole too.
- Use a vacuum cleaner attachment to vacuum around and under machines.
- Vacuum the lint filter and lint trap.
- Spray a soft cloth with all-purpose cleaner and wipe the top and sides of the washer and dryer.
- Vacuum the baseboards and the floor.
- Wash the baseboards and the floor.
- Once the washing machine has completed its cleaning cycle, wipe the seals and compartments with a clean, dry cloth.
- Return any items to the laundry room and admire that clean space!

As you work on prep week this week, don’t miss the Spring Cleaning Sale in the shop this week – fill your cart and stock up! I’ve marked down quite a few products in the shop so you’ll receive 10% off in addition to the sale prices. The Homekeeping Planner and the Weekly Wall Calendar are on sale, all the Printables are marked down, Essential Oils are on sale to make sale for something new, and more! (Hopefully the laundry powders will be back in stock later this week – if not, they’ll go on sale as soon as they are back!) Use the coupon code SPRINGCLEANSALE on the products in the shop for 10% off your entire order and you can use the same coupon code SPRINGCLEANSALE for $10 off a new subscription to Homekeeping Society – that coupon applies to the monthly AND annual plans! This is the last time I’ll have a coupon on Homekeeping Society before December (just an FYI).
