If you’ve every found yourself wrestling with duvet, here is a super simple method for this popular bedding cover.
I recommend washing a duvet cover like you would sheets – weekly is best if you don’t use a top sheet and bi-weekly to monthly works if you do use a top sheet. With the Clean Mama Routine, Saturday is Sheets + Towels Day – the day we wash sheets and towels. We do this on Saturday so everyone can get involved and help out.
When you have mastered this simple duvet inserting method, you won’t be afraid to wash your duvet cover any longer.
Start by making your bed with clean sheets. You can see my favorite safe, natural laundry products here.
Once you have your clean sheets on the bed, turn your duvet cover inside out and lay on top of the clean sheets.
Place your duvet insert on TOP of the inside-out duvet cover.
Assuming your duvet cover has loops, locate them on the corners – alternatively, you can tie a knot on the corners of the duvet instead or you can sew a small loop in the corners of your duvet insert.
Tie the corners to the loops – don’t knot them to keep it as easy as possible to untie when it’s time to launder again.
Next up, right side out the duvet cover on the bed.
Button up the bottom of the duvet – I never fully unbutton the buttons to save time and effort.
Smooth, fluff and arrange the duvet on your bed.
Add your pillows and admire that beautifully made bed!
