To help you achieve the enjoyable side of cleaning, we’ve listed some tips and hacks to hasten the process and give you more time to enjoy your fresh and tidy kitchen.

Set Up a Regular Kitchen Cleaning Schedule

Many people dread cleaning the kitchen due to the constant flow of crumbs, dirt and stains from everyday use among residents. However, to help you keep on track with cleaning tasks, it’s recommended that you set up a regular cleaning schedule. Cleaning regularly will result in a clean kitchen that’s easier to maintain. By setting up a cleaning schedule every week, you’re more likely to use your free time to relax on the weekends instead of spending it mopping and scrubbing your floor and countertops.

If you can’t commit to any schedule, consider contacting a professional cleaning company. Professionals like Calibre Cleaning in Melbourne are able to handle the kitchen cleaning for you, leaving it thoroughly sanitized every time. This tip is even more helpful if you ever plan to remodel your kitchen in the future since a regularly maintained kitchen will have less damage caused by neglect.

Declutter Your Kitchen to Add Space

If your kitchen’s space has become awkward due to layout and space availability, there are various ways to remedy this. Some of these include:

  • Building additional shelves to store your things
  • Adding in a built-in trash can
  • Hanging pots and pans by drilling U hooks on the walls

Another way is to declutter the room. If you take the time to declutter and arrange your items properly, your kitchen will be more spacious and inviting. An excellent place to start is by organizing your utensils. Store them in a manner that is logical and easy to access, removing the hassle of digging through the drawer to find what you’re looking for. Secondly, ensure your kitchen equipment is in good working order. Having one or two broken appliances lying around will only make the place look like it’s in disarray, while creating a hazardous environment. Appliances with exposed wires, for example, can cause electrical fires. Lastly, make sure your countertops are clutter-free. If you struggle to keep the space clean, consider investing in a few easy storage solutions like buying an extra cupboard.

Clean Your Dishwasher With Baking Soda

A dishwasher can quickly get smelly, but that’s an easy problem to solve. Sprinkle some baking soda around the bottom of your dishwasher, particularly on the spray arm. Then, run a full cleaning cycle. Your dishwasher will not only smell better, but it will also clean better too. Baking soda has a multitude of household uses. It contains properties that allow it to neutralize odors, giving you a fresh-smelling dishwasher.

Adding Dish Soap to Your Blender

We all love using our blender but hate cleaning it. It’s one of the most challenging and tedious things to clean in the kitchen. The best trick to getting your favorite blender clean with ease is to add a couple of drops of dish soap into the blender immediately after using it. Proceed to add in water until it’s about halfway full, then blend. Do this for a couple of seconds and watch how easily all that nasty grime comes out of the blender.

Disinfect Those Household Sponges

Sponges, particularly those used daily in the kitchen sink, can be a warehouse for all sorts of bacteria. But did you know you can disinfect your household sponges in the microwave? By microwaving your sponges for one to two minutes, you can disinfect the sponge and keep it free of odor-causing bacteria. The heat will kill all the bacteria accumulated in the sponge, including those that cause foul odors. Try this once or twice a week for best results.

Pop a Lemon in the Garbage Disposal Unit

If not properly cared for, garbage disposals can begin to smell awful. Not only should you place garbage in your disposal that is appropriate, but you should also throw in a lemon or two down there to freshen things up. Cut a lemon in half and place it in the disposal with the water running. Turn the disposal on and let it run for a couple of seconds. Then, turn the disposal off, but allow the water to remain on for a few more moments. Turn the water off and enjoy the refreshing scent of lemons in your sink!

Lemons For Stainless Steel Faucets

If you’ve got a stainless steel faucet that looks foggy or grimy, then grab your lemon and get to work! Cut a lemon in half. Then, take the cut side of the lemon and rub it all over the faucet. Let it sit for about 5 minutes. Once done, grab a clean towel and wipe the lemon’s  juice off the faucet along with any residue from dirt or grime. Lemons contain citric acid, a gentle polishing agent that can clean stainless steel in a jiffy. However, if you have really tough stains, you may need to do the process more than once.

Cleaning Kitchen Windows Naturally

Kitchen windows are hard to clean because of all the greasy smudge, built up over the months. For a quick DIY window-washing solution, mix equal parts of white vinegar and warm water or add one teaspoon of mild dishwashing soap to a pint of water. Spray or wipe down the window and wipe it clean with a microfiber cloth to get streak-free, smudge-free results.
